📖 The story

Your Sim arrives in town with the clothes on their back, a patch of bare dirt, and not a single Simoleon to their name. No job will save them — only their own two hands. This is the challenge that started a thousand simmers actually using the painting easel, and it's the gateway drug to every harder run in this book.

💝 The goal

Build your household funds up to **§100,000**, with every Simoleon earned from skills and odd jobs rather than a paid (rabbit-hole) career.

🚀 Getting started

  • Create one young adult Sim with any traits — though *Frugal*, *Hardworking*-style aspirations and anything that boosts a money skill will help. Move them onto the largest cheap empty lot you can find, then set up the bare start:

📋 General rules

  • No money cheats after the §0 start. `bb.moveobjects` for building is fine.
  • Only buy what you can currently afford — no going into a negative balance via tricks.
  • No gifts, transfers, or money from any other household.

✨ Specific rules

  • No rabbit-hole career income. Money comes only from skills and self-employment — painting, writing, gardening, fishing, woodworking, crafting, collecting.
  • You begin with no walls and no roof; build your shelter up from open sky as you can afford it.
  • No moving into a pre-furnished house to skip the early grind.

✅ What you can do

  • Use `bb.moveobjects` for building and placement.
  • Earn from any self-employment: painting, writing, gardening, fishing, woodworking, flower arranging, programming/freelance, or collecting.
  • Forage and eat wild plants; sell anything your Sim makes or finds.
  • Take freelance/odd-job gigs (these aren't salaried rabbit-hole careers).

⛔ What you can't do

  • No money cheats after the §0 start, and no negative-balance tricks.
  • No rabbit-hole salaried careers (the regular job panel).
  • No gifts, transfers, or money from any other household.
  • No moving into a pre-built or pre-furnished home, and no selling gifted/cheated items.

🎯 Objectives — complete the checklist

🎮 If you don't own the packs

Already fully base-game. Without Seasons you simply lose the weather stakes, and without Eco Lifestyle you skip off-grid options — painting, fishing, gardening and woodworking still cover every Simoleon.

💡 Strategy tips

  • *Fishing and collecting* are your day-one lifeline — they cost nothing and the frogs/crystals/fish sell immediately. Fish near the starting pond while your other skills build.
  • *The painting easel* is the classic engine: buy the cheapest one the moment you can, and paint constantly. Painting skill raises the value of every canvas, so early grind compounds fast.
  • Plant anything you find foraging — a free garden is passive income that grows while you sleep.

💕 Milestones — track your progress

🔥 Want it harder?

  • *One-crop start:* every Simoleon must trace back to a single starting plant before you may diversify.
  • *Off-grid:* enable the Off-the-Grid lot trait so you have no power or water to lean on either.

🏆 Scoring

Race friends by *in-game days to §100,000*: under 40 days is strong, under 25 is expert. Lower is better.

🎭 Variations

Run it as a *family* rags-to-riches (start a couple with kids at §0), or set the target to §250,000 for a full-lifetime version. ---
